TISA International Welcome Party 2022 Autumn, 160 participants!

The Tokyo Tech International Student Association (TISA) hosted the 2022 Autumn TISA Welcome Party on Ookayama Campus on November 7th. 　The event was organized in collaboration with two other student groups — glober (an information-sharing site for international students) and language exchange promotion group ACTION — and was supported by the Tokyo Tech Alumni Association (Kuramae) and the Student Support Division.
This was the very first TISA Welcome Party held in Taki Plaza. Despite the remaining COVID-19 safety restrictions, this party was once again a great success. Around 160 new students, current students, volunteers, staff, alumni from over 30 countries attended.

The first half of the Party was a Free Roaming Session, a free walk in, move around and socialize time. There were several booths for different activities and people could join freely to any booth. For game booths, there were culture games (traditional indoor board games), and interactive short games. For talking booths, there were ice-breaker games and information exchange booths. For the photo booth, people interacted with each other and explored their imagination to take creative photos. For food, we prepared local sweets in Japan. People enjoyed experiencing the food culture of each prefecture in Japan.

The second half was a sit down session. Participants met their group members and did trivia quizzes together. To the delight of many new students, Tokyo Tech President Kazuya Masu and the Kuramae representative Mr. Tsujino also dropped by to offer their warm words of welcome.
The participants spent the evening chatting, enjoying snacks and drinks together, and playing a number of interactive games. Game winners received various prizes including Tokyo Tech file holder, Tokyo Tech pencils and snacks.

　As COVID restrictions are lifted, we were able to have a more flexible welcome party this time. TISA received generous support from the Tokyo Tech Alumni Association (Kuramae) and the student support division.
　This successful event was achieved through the combined efforts of 30 TISA members and volunteers. The bond between the event team members was strengthened. Thanks to all the TISA members and friends who helped out.
　I am very happy that the participants enjoyed the party as well. We hope that the participants can make new friends and will make use of the opportunity of this welcome party for their future networking.
Coincidentally, it was our birthday on the day of the welcome party. TISA members and volunteers prepared a birthday surprise for us. Everyone sang a happy birthday song for us. It was very touching.
　As for our academic studies, both of us are studying mainly polymer science. We aim to create high-functional and high-performance polymer materials.
　As for extracurricular activities, we will do our best to make the next event a good one that more people will be able to enjoy. We aim to promote global exchange and International Interactions in Japan.

　東京工業大学は、11月7日にTISA（ティサ：東京工業大学留学生会）が運営する「2022 TISAウェルカムパーティー」を開催しました。本イベントはglober（グローバー：留学生に役立つ情報をまとめるプラットフォーム）とACTION（アクション：東工大語学パートナー制度）が協力して企画し、蔵前工業会と学生支援課が支援しています。日本の「おもてなしの心」により、すべての留学生が東工大コミュニティに参加し、歓迎されているという実感を得られることを目的としています。

　Taki Plazaで開催された初めてのTISAウェルカムパーティー。コロナ対策による制限が残っているにもかかわらず、パーティーは今回も大盛況でした。35の国々から来た160人以上の新入生、在校生、ボランティアとスタッフ、OBOGが参加しました。
前半はFree Roaming Sessionとして、自由に歩き回り、交流できる時間を設けました。ゲームブースでは、カルチャーゲーム（伝統的な室内ボードゲーム）や、ショートゲームなどがありました。トーキングブースでは、アイスブレイクゲームや情報交換ブースがありました。フォトブースでは、参加者同士が交流し、想像力を働かせてクリエイティブな写真を撮りました。飲み物と食べ物としては、日本の伝統的な菓子を用意しました。日本の各県の食文化に触れ、楽しんでいただきました。

　後半はチーム交流とクイズ大会で盛り上がりました。また、益一哉学長や蔵前工業会の辻野事務局長から歓迎のメッセージを頂きました。
参加者は、おしゃべりをしたり、一緒にスナックやドリンクを楽しんだり、親睦を深めるためのゲームを遊んだりして、楽しい時間を過ごしました。ゲームの勝者には、東工大グッズ、お菓子などの賞品が贈られました。

　コロナ制限が一部緩和され、より自由度が高いパーティーが出来ました。学生支援課と蔵前工業会の方より手厚い支援をいただきました。
　今回はTISAメンバーやボランティア30人の力を合わせて作り上げたイベントです。今回を通してイベントチームのメンバーたちの間の絆が深まりました。手伝ってくれたTISAメンバーと友達に感謝しています。参加者たちもパーティーを楽しんでくれたようでとても嬉しいです。今回のウェルカムパーティーを通して友達を作り、その縁が今後の人脈作りに生かされることを願います。
　ちょうどウェルカムパーティー当日は私たちの誕生日だったので、TISAメンバーとボランティアたちが誕生日サプライズプレゼントを準備してくださいました。とても感動しました。
　学業では高分子科学を中心に勉強し、高機能・高性能な高分子材料の創成を目指して研究に励んでいます。学外活動では、TISA, glober, ACTIONを通して日本の国際交流を促進したいと思います。次回はより多くの人が楽しめる良いイベントにするように頑張りたいです。
